Free Faculty & Staff Group Fitness Classes

Free DU Faculty & Staff Group Fitness Classes are scheduled to suit your lunch breaks and the end of your work day on campus. Get moving with colleagues to reduce stress and practice healthy habits! 

Current offerings are:

Strength & Stretch Tuesdays at 4:30 PM
Yoga Fusion Wednesdays at 11:45 AM
Mat Pilates Thursdays at 4:15 PM

Location: Summit Studio, Ritchie Center for Sports and Wellness

Please plan to check in at the Coors Fitness Center front desk when you arrive for class. You do not have to be a Coors Fitness Center member to attend the below classes. Access to the locker rooms and day use lockers will be provided.

When: Starting on September 10, 2024 until November 14, 2024

Sessions will be offered throughout the fall quarter, so you can consistently plan these classes into your weekly schedule. Following your first session, you'll be assigned a group fitness pass that will allow you to check in with your DU ID for each class.

Class Descriptions:
Strength & Stretch - Tuesdays, 4:30 p.m.

This balanced workout combines resistance training exercises with deep stretching techniques to help you build and tone muscles, while enhancing your range of motion.

Yoga Fusion - Wednesdays, 11:45 a.m.

Experience a unique blend of yoga styles in this dynamic class that integrates elements from various yoga traditions. This class is suitable for all levels.

Mat Pilates - Thursdays, 4:15 p.m.

A focused and invigorating workout designed to strengthen your core, improve flexibility, and enhance overall body alignment.

Mindfulness/Meditation and Breath Work sessions
Explore a range of breathing and mindfulness techniques, guided meditation, and overall mind-body awareness in this introductory class. You'll leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. These sessions can be completed in comfortable work clothes that allow you to sit and lie down, if you would prefer not to change.

Faculty & Staff Free Tai Chi Summer Series

We are excited to welcome instructor Jean Gan to facilitate free Tai Chi and Qigong Sessions outside this summer. These sessions are designed for Faculty & Staff. They will be held Wednesdays from 11am - 12pm on the circle lawn at Daniel L. Ritchie Way. Whether you're a beginner or have practiced before, these sessions welcome all levels of experience. You may reserve a spot in advance below to receive calendar reminders.

Nutrition Designed Speaker Series

We are excited to welcome Yvonne Montoya-Matthews, MS, CNS, LDN, BCHN®, to host a 5-part wellbeing speaker series this winter & spring.

Yvonne is a double-board certified functional nutritionist dietitian, certified herbalist, and holds a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition & Integrative Health. She started her private practice, Nutrition Designed, in 2015 and specializes in hormones, gut and digestive health, food allergies and sports and performance nutrition.

Each monthly seminar will be held from 12-1 p.m. and will include a 45-minute talk followed by time for Q&A with Yvonne. Our February seminar will be held on Zoom, but all other seminars will provide an in-person or virtual participation option. Participants will receive the Zoom link and/or room location prior to each seminar via email.
